Members from 10 organizations participated in a rally from Park Circus seven-point crossing to Myanmar Honorary Consulate General on Ballygunge Circular road in Kolkata India, against atrocities committed against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
However, police stopped their march at Beck Bagan Crossing. A five-member delegate was later allowed to submit a memorandum to the Myanmar consulate.

Md Kamruzzaman, general secretary, All Bengal Minority Youth Federation, said over 30,000 families have been rendered homeless in Myanmar. “We demand that the genocide on Rohingya Muslims stop immediately, and those who had to flee from their homes be returned. The Indian government should put pressure on Myanmar government so these people are rehabilitated and granted legal documents of citizenship,” he said.

“These people who had fled Myanmar and sought refuge in Bangladesh were not given refugee status not sympathetic treatment by the Bangladesh government, which one would have expected under the given circumstances,” he added.

Md Nooruddin, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said the Indian government too had turned a blind eye on the attacks. “It is unfortunate that the Indian government is paying no heed to this problem. We demand that our government raise its voice against this gross violation of human rights. We should request the Myanmar government to act against the atrocities,” he said.
