Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa has called on Muslims to donate 1,000 Korans for Rohingya asylum seekers in Aceh.…
“It is an act of solidarity,” said Khofifah during a celebration of the 69th anniversary of Muslimat NU South Sulawesi branch in Barru regency, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
The minister said she had distributed 50 Korans to the Rohingya during her visit to the Langsa shelter in Aceh. “They were happy because they could be close to the Koran,” she said as quoted by Antara news agency.
At least Rp 15.5 million (US$1,174) collected during the South Sulawesi Muslimat NU (women’s branch of the largest Islamic organization, Nahdlatul Ulama) anniversary celebration will be used to procure Korans for the Rohingya.
