A BGP official in charge of the Rathedaung township have called all Aishwaramus of the area on Saturday.
The official told the collaborators that they must collect 1000 kyats from every Rohingya Muslim family and hand it over. Otherwise the BGP would raid Muslim villages and make arbitrary arrests.
Anyone refusing to pay would also be arrested.
Rathedaung has seen increased crackdown by BGP and police in the last few weeks, especially around the Rajar Bil area. A few have been killed and many have been tortured in custody. Some women have also been raped and abused by security forces.
