Mayor of Buthidaung imposed an arbitrary action against Rohingyas locals in Arakan State, by charging excessive fines on four Rohingyas with fabricated charges against their legal property of land.

Agency correspondent reported that the mayor forced four Rohingya residents of the town to pay 900 thousand Myanmar Kyat under the pretext of “possession of the land with government plans”. A number of notables Rohingyas expressed deep dismay at the continued harassment to snap up properties and give them to recruited Buddhists from eastern Bangladesh, despite the democratic changes taking place in Myanmar at the moment.
