A group of underprivileged children who took part in a breaking of fast event organised by Coca-Cola Malaysia and Malaysian Muslim Aid Humanity Foundation (YKMAM) at a shopping complex here had every reason to smile.
Some 100 children from two homes – Baitul Husna and Dinasti – along with a group of refugee children from JREC Rohingya School, were all excited as soon as they stepped into the Kuantan City Mall shopping centre.
The children, aged between seven and 17, participated in a colouring event and received gift hampers and duit raya.
After posing for a group photo and selfies, the Coca-Cola staff was then seen helping the children with their meal.
Mohamad Bakar Aslam, 9, said he was excited when a caretaker informed that they would be taken out to break fast at a shopping complex.
“I made some new friends and received gifts and duit raya. There’s a lot of food for us to eat and Coca-Cola as well,” he said.
Meanwhile, Coca-Cola Refreshments Malaysia commercial director Eric Tan said the company selected 24 locations for the event this year and Kuantan was its 14th destination.
“We are grateful to all those who have helped us put smiles on the children’s faces and it seem that they are having a lot of fun here. Coca-Cola will continue to support YKMAM’s efforts to help underprivileged people.
“Coca-Cola’s priority has always been to assist the needy people, regardless if they are children, the elderly, locals or even refugee,” he said.
Also present was Coca-Cola Malaysia’s Public Affairs and Communications Manager, Khairul Abdul Ghani.
