Four Rohingyas were attacked by a group of Buddhist extremists while they were fishing in Punna kyuan, east of the state capital of Sittwe (Akyab).
Arakan news agency reported that the fishermen were in a river passing by their village Sidurkul.
When they were surprised by a group of Buddhists who surrounded them later taking their fishing nets and eating them up.
One of the victims was in critical condition and needed urgent medical intervention, but local residents feared he would go to hospital for fear of possible assault by the authorities, the correspondent said.
