Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh recounted how he escaped the death of an interrogator after Myanmar army bullets penetrated his body and wounded him with fatal injuries.
In a video obtained by the Arakan news agency, the refugee explained that during the military campaign launched by the Myanmar forces, his village was surrounded by security forces for no reason and the forces opened fire indiscriminately, wounding him with several shots in various parts of his body.
“After my arrival in Bangladesh they took me to the hospital and there they gave me a lower abdominal operation to extract bullets,” he said. “I was running away with my family when the army shots hit me and injured others, too. I fell unconscious and woke up only on the shoulders of my family and relatives who took me to Bangladesh. And another operation in the arm to repair the bone fractured with iron.
“I am one of the others who have been shot by the army in Arakan state … We have not done anything to the government and we have not committed any wrongdoing,” he concluded.
The activist called on the international community to redress the Rohingy people and restore their rights from the Myanmar government and hold the perpetrators accountable and bring them to international justice.
