Burmese authorities have imposed a fine of 20 thousand Burmese kyat on Rohingya fishermen in Arakan exchange for allowing them to engage in fishing in the vicinity of their homes and ponds, according to the correspondent of the Arakan News Agency (ANA), adding that a government official told the fishermen that they have to inform authorities first regarding the amount of the catch and the value of the profits they earn.

The authorities had issued a ban several days ago for Rohingya fishermen without providing any justification for this arbitrary decision according to a local source.

And the reporter said that the Burmese authorities circumvent the Rohingyas of their sudden decisions in order to blackmail and harass them for their daily earning he said.

It is noteworthy that the Rohingya people in many cities and villages of Arakan face difficult challenges of living and suffering from hardship because of almost daily harassment and repressive measures by the authorities against them.
