A fire broke out Thursday at a house owned by a Hindu family in Shwe Zar village, Maungdaw city, in Arakan State, completely destroying it without causing any injuries.

According to an Arakan News Agency correspondent, citing eyewitnesses, the fire was caused by negligence in the use of lighting, before it gradually spread and consumed the entire house.

Residents, including Rohingya, Hindus, and Rakhine, managed to contain the flames, preventing them from spreading to nearby houses.

The Arakan Army (AA), an armed separatist group, has launched an investigation into the incident, which has so far not resulted in the arrest of anyone in connection with the fire.

In May, a fire ravaged the “Say Tha Mar Gyi” camp for internally displaced persons in Sittwe city, Arakan State, western Myanmar, destroying 480 temporary shelters. The blaze claimed the lives of three people, injured more than 200 others, and left nearly 3,000 Rohingya homeless.
