Canada helps Arakan Muslims with $ 2.5 million

Canada provided Arakan Muslims fleeing the injustice of the Myanmar Government to Bangladesh with $ 2.5 million in humanitarian assistance.
Canadian International Development Minister Mary Claude Bebo said in a statement that the aid provided would help meet the needs of civilians fleeing violence to Bangladesh.
The Canadian minister added that 70% of those in need of humanitarian assistance are women and children.
Assistance included the provision of therapeutic food for women and children under the age of five, clinical care, social and psychological counseling, emergency deliveries, neonatal care and child-friendly spaces.
Assistance would be provided by the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Children’s Fund and the World Food Program.
She stressed her country’s concern about the displacement of 375,000 people fleeing violence in Myanmar towards Bangladesh, calling for “measures to protect all civilians in Myanmar from ongoing violence in the country.”
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Wednesday that the number of Arakan refugees to Bangladesh to escape the violence that erupted in Myanmar, about 400,000 people, including 220 thousand children under the age of 18.
Since August 25th, the Myanmar army has committed genocide against Rohingya Muslims in Arakan province (Rakhine), killing and injuring thousands of civilians, according to Arakan activists.
