Myanmar has attracted more than 300 Bangladeshi youths from the Bandarban province, who have converted to Buddhism and recruited them into Myanmar’s army, a Bangladeshi newspaper said.
According to the newspaper parbattanews, reliable sources in the region have said that a number of young people from the Marmara Bandarban community have been working in the army for a long time. More recently, the news came publicly when Myanmar troops began to gather more young people from the border areas to the army.
The newspaper mentioned the names of a number of Bengalis who work in the Myanmar army and were posted in the city of Maungdaw and other cities.
