The Canadian government has decided to expand the agenda of the upcoming G7 foreign ministers’ meeting to include the fate of the Rohingya Muslims fleeing Myanmar towards Bangladesh.

The issue was added to the issues of international security of concern to the Group of Seven, especially those associated with Syria, Ukraine and Iran, according to the organizer of the summit, Peter Boehm.

The Canadian Foreign Minister, “Christia Freeland” confirmed earlier that Canada is seeking to take advantage of the G7 summit to submit recommendations of the report of Special Envoy, “Bob Ray,” which called for the perpetrators of violence against Rohingya to justice.

Freeland highlighted situations of gender-based violence and rape as tools of war against women and girls fleeing Myanmar.
