The Myanmar authorities in Yangon on Sunday formally refused to stop their attacks against Rohingya Muslims to facilitate relief and humanitarian teams to thousands of people affected and fleeing violence in Arakan state.“Our official policy is to refuse to negotiate with the terrorists,” the Myanmar official said on Twitter, referring to Rohingya resistance fighters from the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army.On Saturday, the Rohingya rebels announced a month-long humanitarian truce, calling on the military to stop military action.This came after more than 300,000 Rohingya refugees were forced to flee towards neighboring Bangladesh after violence in their areas.
The outbreak of violence has destroyed and burned dozens of villages and displaced thousands of Rohingyas from their areas towards southern Bangladesh.
According to humanitarian organizations operating in the area, the Rohingya is being systematically routed by government forces with the help of extremist Buddhist militias to clean up Arakan and restore a Buddhist state called Rakhine.
At least 12 villages were destroyed and burned on Friday and Saturday in the Rathidaung district, according to observers who confirmed the outbreak of the fires, in village after village. “I think the Rohingyas were completely expelled from the villages in Rathidaung. “
