A couple has been fined 500,000 kyats for losing their white cards on Tuesday.

Md Amin and his wife lost their cards when they ran away from their homes in Gorjondia, Maungdaw South during the 2012 riots.

When the government declared that all white cards will be withdrawn they went to Aishwaramu Siraj Ullah of the village tract. The tabbe said that they need to go to the BGP.

This scared the couple who asked for an alternative way. Siraj said they must pay him half a million kyats to settle the matter.

Otherwise Siraj threatened to tell the BGP that the couple was refusing to hand in their white cards.
