Myanmar police arrested a Rohingya man (the agency retains the name of victim) from Maungdaw northern city of Arakan state on charges of practicing illegal activities, according to the correspondent of the agency. The correspondent reported that police tortured the detainee – who at the age of 37 years – for several hours before they released him in exchange of 600 thousand Myanmar Kyat. A number of his relatives confirmed that the charge against him “does not make any sense, and that the goal of his arrest is for financial blackmailing.
