About 200 Rohingya refugees gathered on Wednesday in Makassar, the capital of Indonesia’s southern province of Sulawesi, to protest the slow pace of the UNHCR in resolving their situation.
According to the Indonesian newspaper merdeka, the protesters stood in front of the office of the representative of the Commission and raised slogans calling for the speedy resolution of their situation or resettlement in a third country.
One demonstrator complained that he had spent years in the city awaiting resettlement while other people who had come after him had been resettled as he called the Indonesian authorities to allow them to work.
