Politicians in Myanmar said that the recent attacks in police posts in Arakan State on the border with Bangladesh increased the concern of the people to the democratic process and civil-military relations in the country.
The lawmaker U Lwin Ko Latt told The Irrawaddy that he is concerned about the situation after the killing of nine policemen and five soldiers, and fifteen other men, blaming the military intelligence and the Defense Ministry, that they must know the attack before it happens.
He expressed concern about the government’s ability to deal with such an event effectively.

Nay Myo Htun, a parliamentarian said that the dispute could hamper democracy in Myanmar, calling on the government to proceed with caution and handle the procedures in line with the rule of law and a proposal was send to Arakan Advisory Committee, headed by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to the state.
