ANNABA-The documentary “The Venerable W” by director Barbet Schroeder on violence against the Muslim minority in Burma (Rohingya) was screened Saturday in Annaba, for the first time in an Arab country in the presence of the director in the framework of the Annaba of the Mediterranean film.

Franco-Swiss production of the year 2017, the film screened out of competition deals with the spiral of violence and persecution suffered by the Muslims of Burma.

Lasting 107 minutes, the French director deciphers the experience of the Muslims of Burma and reports the scenes of torture, mutilation and genocide against this minority.

The venerable W refers to the Buddhist monk, Ashin Wirathu, the man with hate speech against Muslims and whose Islamophobia has turned into violence and religious and ethnic persecution.
