A delegation from the legislative branch of the US Congress met Rohingya refugees in the Kutupalong camp in Bangladesh and discussed with them the background of the Myanmar crisis which prompted them to flee and the process of their return .

Arakan News Agency correspondent said the meeting focused on two main topics : the reasons for fleeing Arakan and what the Myanmar army and the system of action they wanted to return home.

He added that the refugees made clear to the delegation the crimes committed by the Myanmar army against them including rape of women, the killing of children, the burning of homes and property, the arrest and liquidation of men and the demand for citizenship and civil rights before returning to their homes.

For their part, the delegation stressed that, by virtue of its legislative specialization, it has the powers to ban travel of those involved in these crimes to the United States and the blacklisting of their property there and stop the trade between the two countries, which confirmed their efforts to apply it.

The Delegation pointed out that any international resolution on the issue was not sufficient for the approval of the United States of America, but also needed Chinese and Russian support to bind Myanmar and apply law to it, which required greater consensus efforts from those States.
