UN Under-Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman expressed “deep concern at what is being done against the Rohingya Muslims and about many aspects of the situation in Myanmar.

This came at a press conference held by Feltman at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, last Thursday just two days before the end of his six-year term.

“So far, we do not see any basis for Rohingya to return to their areas of origin or to any other destination they choose,” he said.

The ongoing crimes against Rohingya have led to exodus 826,000 Rohingya in recent times, including 656,000 since August 25, according to the United Nations.

At least 9,000 Rohingya minority people were killed in Arakan, western Myanmar, between August 25 and September 24, according to MSF.
