Umno Youth will hold a rally in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Kuala Lumpur this Friday to protest against the mass killing of the Rohingya in Myanmar’s Rakhine state.
Exco member Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah said the movement also aims to urge the government to withdraw the Malaysian football team from the ongoing Asean Football Federation (AFF) Championship 2016.
“Umno Youth had in our meeting agreed unanimously that the government should withdraw our football team from the AFF Cup, as a protest against the genocide of the Rohingya in Myanmar.

“Umno Youth had in our meeting agreed unanimously that the government should withdraw our football team from the AFF Cup, as a protest against the genocide of the Rohingya in Myanmar.
“The government of Myanmar had been cruel towards the Rohingya in their country, and the time has come not only for Malaysia but also other Asean countries to protest and boycott the championship, as this is not an issue of religion but humanitarian in nature.
“Umno Youth is organising a peaceful protest this Friday after Friday prayers. All Malaysians are invited to join us to show our protest and to show solidarity with the Rohingya victims,” he told a press conference in front of the state secretariat building, here today.
Armand said they have also forwarded the AFF 2016 boycott suggestion to Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also Umno Youth chief.
