Human traffickers based in the refugee camps of Bangladesh have expressed rage and disappointment at the interception and arrest of human traffickers in Bangkok.

The criminals now blame the ‘ungrateful’ people in Bangkok. They say that people like Anwar and Mofiz have been great community leaders who have been doing their holy duty by helping desperate Muslim refugees cross into Thailand and Malaysia. In return, the refugees turn them over to authorities.

They are saying that both Anwar and Mofiz are deeply religious men.

Refugees in Thailand say that these human traffickers raped the women before selling them to the sex industry. Men were tortured on the ship and in jungle camps of Southern Thailand. Starvation is also common. For men, the torture continues until ransom.

For women, it often means they will never meet their loved ones ever again.

The human traffickers in many instance pose as religious clerics who tell poor Rohingya parents that they can arrange for their daughters marriage in full compliance with Sharia law. However once they reach Thailand, they are sold to the sex industry.

There are fears among many that the Thai police will release the human traffickers.

Meanwhile human traffickers have a very strong position among Rohingya communities based in Bangladesh.
