Myanmar authorities extended the curfew in works in a number of towns north of Arakan State starting on Monday, according to local officials.

According to the Myanmar Times, the authorities’ actions began in late at night in the town of Buthidaung and Maungdaw in areas that have experienced violence in 2012 between Buddhists and Muslims in anticipation of renewed unrest in the words of officials.

A source from the Maungdaw police said that this extension will continue for two months until 8 October and he added that the curfew will start from 10 pm at night until four in the morning and forming gatherings of more than five people in public places or mosques is prohibited.
