Local residents of Rohingya Muslims yesterday found in Arakan the bodies of three young men whose news had been cut off from their families a week ago. Residents of the village told Arakan news agency that the bodies of the three youths were found to be tied with signs of torture, indicating that they had been arrested and beaten before being killed by extremists who are believed to be Buddhists or government forces. The villagers said that the youths left their village, “Shikdar”, north of the city of Maungdaw, in search of firewood outside the village and then disappeared. The bodies were found near a water source and are now being prepared for burial by families of the victims after prayer.
