The European Union adopts a new program to support the Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh

The European Union on Monday adopted a new program with a budget of 5 million euros (1.6 million dollars) to support Rohingya minority refugees in Bangladesh.

The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, said in a press release that the new initiative aims to support efforts to identify and register Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and to facilitate humanitarian support as well as better protection for individuals at risk.
She added that the initiative of the European Union is also aimed at supporting the implementation of an agreement between the governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh signed on November 23, 2017 to repatriate refugees.
The EU High Representative for Foreign and Political Affairs and the European Commission Vice President Federica Mogherini renewed during a visit to the refugee camps of Rohingya in Bazaar Cox, Bangladesh on 19th November last year confirmed the EU support to the authorities of Bangladesh to receive refugees who fled the state of ( Arakan) in Myanmar.
