Renewed incineration of houses in northern Arakan province As the Rohingya refugees set to return from Bangladesh, extremist Buddhists burned three houses in the city of Buthidaung last week.
Local residents of a village west Buthidaung told Arakan news agency that they woke up at three o’clock on Wednesday morning to the smoke of fire and were surprised by fire in three houses belonging to the Rohingya. When they tried to extinguish it, six extremist Buddhists from another village were found nearby.
The Buddhists fled the scene of the fire as soon as they tried to ask why they were there at this time, which they interpreted as evidence of their involvement in the operation, residents told.
Residents said the houses were completely burnt and nothing left.
It should be noted that 100 houses were burned just two days ago in the border town of Tambro, which was supposed to return the Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh after the start of the return agreement between the two countries.
