Myanmar’s local authorities have raised the number to 25 deaths from the swine flu (H1N1) virus that has affected the country since last July, the official press reported on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that it had identified seven new cases of the virus, according to a statement quoted by the local newspaper Global New Light of Myanmar.
With the emergence of these new cases, brings the number of people infected with the swine flu virus to 242 in the country since 21 July, of whom 57 are still in hospitals, according to the same newspaper.
The ministry added that 18 people had died of various diseases and complications due to their vulnerability to the virus.
Myanmar has not reported any outbreak of the virus since the global wave in 2009, during which dozens of people were infected in the Asian country, according to the newspaper.
