The participants in the international conference «Muslims and the prospects for coexistence» held by the Muslim World League in cooperation with the Sri Lanka’s Islamic Center condemned ethnic cleansing suffered by Muslims in Myanmar, and called on its government to recognize their rights, and to protect them and their mosques and villages, and to allow international and Islamic institutions to ease their suffering.
Congress said they regretted the escalation of hatred and intimidation of Islam and Muslims in some societies events, in which the result is violation of rights, the restriction of freedoms, and attacks on religion and cultures.
The conference also recommended the development of a comprehensive strategy to address the problem of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, ensuring them full citizenship rights in their country, and to protect them from the dangers, and to allow the return of migrants, and to compensate those affected.
The conference concluded yesterday after a two-day Sri Lankan capital, Colombo.
The participants praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to the consolidation of moderation, and the service of Islam and Muslims and human communities in achieving security, stability and cooperation, and appreciated the efforts made by the Muslim world League in educating the Muslims and the preservation of their religious identity.
