According to a statement from the school’s teachers, the institution run by eight dedicated community educators successfully provided education throughout the academic year to Rohingya refugee children from Grade 6 to Grade 10, following the Myanmar national curriculum, despite the harsh conditions of camp life.

The teachers emphasized that the ceremony was a recognition of the students’ hard work and resilience in the face of adversity. They stated that education represents a beacon of hope for a better future one that restores their rights, identity, and dignity in their homeland.

In their message, the teachers declared: “We will never give up on our innocent and underprivileged children. May Allah guide us and bless our efforts. We thank everyone who supports us through prayers and solidarity.”

Bangladesh currently hosts over one million Rohingya refugees in the Cox’s Bazar camps, recognized by the United Nations as the world’s largest refugee settlement. These refugees have been living under difficult humanitarian conditions since fleeing Myanmar in 2017, when the Myanmar military launched a brutal campaign of what the UN described as “genocide.” The crisis deepened once again after renewed fighting erupted in Rakhine State between the Myanmar military and the separatist Arakan Army in November 2023, prompting more waves of displacement toward Bangladesh.
