The Rohingya Human Rights Observatory refuted the Myanmar government’s accusations of Rohingya Muslims involved in killing Hindu civilians in Arakan state, citing a number of “logical” evidence, saying it “refutes government charges and proves its involvement in this crime.”

This came in a statement issued by the Observatory.
Last Sunday, the Myanmar army claimed to have found a mass grave of 28 Hindu bodies, including children and women, killed in Arakan violence, accusing Rohingya Muslims of “committing the massacre.”

The Observatory accused the Myanmar government of “attempting to ignite violence between Muslims and Hindus in a malicious manner by accusing Muslims of killing Hindu civilians.”The Rohingya Observatory questioned the images published by the Myanmar government, saying it “raises many questions for followers”.They cited a number of evidence which they said confirmed that “the government lied and fabricated false accusations against Muslims, in order to introduce a new party into the Rohingya cause and try to distract efforts that try to resolve this issue.”

“They had a meeting with a local resident of the area where the government said they found the bodies of Hindus, and reported that Muslims and Hindus have been living in peace in this area for a long time, and there has never been any disagreement between the parties.”

He added that “the agreement between Muslims and Hindus in many customs and transactions exclude that Muslims are the perpetrators of this crime, especially as they are fleeing the military campaign launched by government forces and Buddhist extremists.”

The Observatory inquired about “how the government knows of the people who were killed as being of Hindu origin and there is no evidence to suggest that, especially as the faces of those killed are unclear because of decomposition of bodies, and their clothing is similar to the clothes of Muslims.”

“The government suddenly found these bodies in a remote area of Arakan,” they said.

“There are hundreds of bodies that were burned and left in Arakan state for the Rohingya Muslims. The government did not talk about them or say they found the bodies of Muslims. Why do you talk about them this way?”

The Human Rights Watch confirmed that, by following up, “Hindu women in Arakan and others who fled to Bangladesh have reported that their husbands were killed by the Myanmar military and the Buddhist extremists.”

They pointed out that “there is no complaint by Hindus of the killing of their women, which is contrary to what the government announced in the indictment.”

The Observatory accused the Myanmar government of “attempting to provoke India and Hindus by accusing Muslims of killing members of the Hindu sect in order to obtain more Indian support in the case of murder and displacement of Rohingya Muslims to cover up the crimes committed against them.”
