Director General of Arakan Rohingya Union ARU, Dr. Wakar Uddin called on the United Nations to send a mission to protect the Rohingya in Arakan province in northern Myanmar, noting that attacks by the Myanmar Army and Buddhist militias were continuing on the villages of Rohingya.
In an interview with Anadolu, Dr. Wakar Uddin warned that if a UN mission is not send to Arakan, the Rohingya Muslims will be killed by the army and Buddhist extremists upon their return to the province.
The DG of the Arakan Rohingya Union, which includes more than 60 Rohingya organizations, said the attacks were continuing on the villages of Rohingya Muslims in Arakan, adding that some of the Rohingyas who remained in the region had died of starvation because of their lack of food.
About half a million Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar have taken refuge in Bangladesh since August 25th to escape a campaign by the Myanmar army in response to attacks by Arakan rebel on police station.
