The Rohingya Advocacy Network in Japan (RANJ) called an emergency meeting with Japanese Foreign Ministry on 16th November 2016 from 10am to 11:30 am at Diet Building (3) to discuss about the ongoing killing of Rohingya by Myanmar government arm forces.The emergency meeting was attended by Mr. YOKO TAKUSHIMA, Deputy Director , First Southeast Asia Division, Mr. Maki KAWAMURA , Deputy Director,Country Assistance Planning Division and Ms.KOTA WATANABE from the Foreign Ministry. The Social Democratic Party leader Mrs. Mizuho Fukushima , Human Rights Watch Tokyo office Director Kanei Doi, Prof. Michimi Muranushi, Former NHK Burmese Programme Director Hisao Tanabe and Rohingya activists Zaw Min Htut, Abul Kalam and Fahard also attended. At the emergency meeting HRW Tokyo Director explained about the mass killing, mass arrest, torture and villages burning in Maungdaw by Myanmar military and police forces with the sattelite images and demanded Japanese government to ask Daw Aung San Suu Kyi immediately stop such atrocities and throughly investigate the issue by inviting UN experts.Mr. Hisao Tanabe & Prof. Muranushi asked the Japanese government to provide humanitarian assistance to Rohingya victims immediately. Rohingya Advocacy Network in Japan (RANJ) Executive Director Zaw Min Htut and Rohingya colleagues explained the overall current situation in Maungdaw with several documents and video clips. At the end Mrs. Fukushima asked the Foreign Ministry officials to act immediately to save innocent Rohingya lives and properties for the sake of humanity.
