In mid-March, IRO addressed the British Parliament and the House of Lords to discuss the tragedy of the Rohingya, urging the British Parliament and the British government to fulfill their duty towards human rights and equality among all peoples.
The two speeches were made by the President of the Commission, Madouh Badawi, who condemned the failure and disregard of the United Nations for crimes against the Rohingya and international silence.
Badawi highlighted what had happened to the Rohingya because of the failure of the Government of Myanmar to protect an essential part of Myanmar society under its sovereignty over the Territory, which was a condition for recognizing its sovereignty over the Territory and for providing social peace among its components.
The Commission condemned the participation of the Myanmar army in crimes, igniting strife and preventing and impeding organizations from carrying out their humanitarian and relief duties in reaching places where massacres and media blackout are taking place.
Badawi said “Hundreds of thousands of women, children, men and the elderly have been killed and the rape of women also the torture of hundreds of thousands of innocent people have resulted in the confiscation of their property, the burning of their homes and mosques, the denial of their right to citizenship and their return to their homes, and the confiscation of their identity. “
“The Myanmar government has ignored international law and the human rights and citizenship rights law of its Rohingya citizens, which has strained international relations with neighboring countries and created social and economic problems for neighboring countries,” he said.
The Commission called on the Council to strongly condemn these crimes and to stop the unjust Myanmar authorities from continuing their criminal policies and to bring the perpetrators to the International Tribunal and the British Parliament for solidarity and stand together with the oppressed.
The Commission also called for contributing to the human responsibility to provide all support to relief agencies, humanitarian organizations and the State of Bangladesh to enable it to carry out its duties towards refugees.
At the end of the speech, Badawi made a number of demands, which were:
First: Stop the ongoing massacres immediately.
Second: the return of the displaced to their homes without delay.
Third: Reconstruction of what has been destroyed.
Fourth: Giving compensation to those affected by the crisis.
Fifth: Protection of the Rohingya minority and the establishment of international observers to ensure the safety of the minority.
Sixth: We appeal to your honorable Council to cooperate with the legislative bodies and international parliaments by pressing the Government of Myanmar to implement international human rights resolutions.
