Congress chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) Dr. Taher Mohammad Siraj, which described the legal conspiracies by the Government of Myanmar to consider the Rohingya Muslims of outsiders in the country by granting them national identity cards instead of green.
Siraj said in a statement to the Arakan news agency that these cards, which the government began granting the stateless Rohingya Muslims does not represent the national identity, nor the legal proceedings leading up to the delivery of national identity.
He pointed out that these cards carry reading that does not mean citizenship, and that the holder is under investigation of his identity, as well as they are valid for only two years.
Siraj described this move as an attempt to “malicious” from the government to withdraw an implicit recognition of the Rohingyas as outsiders illegal immigrants, as they carry significant legal risks may terminate citizenship fixed for Rohingyas in the constitutions of the country before the conditions of the 1982 system, and help the government to take legal action against the holders of these cards.
The Myanmar has recently begun granting stateless Rohingya Muslims of green cards after pressure from the international community and demands an end to their problem, especially after the refugees stranded at sea witnessed by the Southeast Asia region during the months of April and May
