Qatar calls to find a fundamental solution to the Rohingya issue in Myanmar

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Qatar Mr. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi  stressed to find an essential solution to the issue of Rohingya Muslims in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, through peaceful and comprehensive settlement of an investigation and dialogue for national unity.

This came in a speech by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, today, during his participation in the meeting  of foreign ministers of Member States in OIC to discuss the status of the Rohingya minority in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.

The Minister of State in the word on the faith of the State of Qatar that the settlement of disputes should be peacefully and mediation to bring the divergent views of the parties to the conflict, and effects of such conflicts are not confined to specific spaces, but they tend to pass the borders, becoming one of the threats to international peace and security.

And he said , “We are meeting today for  the Islamic world which is still facing many challenges that affect the unity and stability, and the challenges of cultural communication and global cooperation. There is no doubt that the stability in the Islamic world is the stability of the whole world, and that the solution to the conflicts experienced by the peoples is a contribution to the global peace – building and the consolidation of human values. ”

And the Secretary of State pointed out that the issue of Rohingya is a humanitarian issue in the first place.

He added, “We in Qatar are supporting national reconciliation and also support all efforts to increase regional and international awareness of the effects of this issue. The State of Qatar put this issue among its priorities, has pledged financial assistance to some neighboring countries to cover the costs of hosting Rohingya refugees, along with aid inside Myanmar, in particular in the state (Arakan). ”

HE expressed his appreciation to the Government of Malaysia for its generosity in hosting the important meeting and for the warm reception and generous hospitality, praising the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in good preparation for this meeting  and efforts to find a peaceful solution to this crisis.
