Pope Francis will make his first visit to Myanmar in November, where he will focus on promoting the rights of the oppressed Muslim Rohingya community, Catholic media said.
The Catholic  Asia News website said that while the Pope’s official visit had not been announced, leaks from Vatican sources confirmed a historic visit to Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The pope reportedly received a personal invitation from Myanmar President Htin Kyaw, which led to an angry reaction between hardline Buddhist groups and extremist nationalist groups to social media.
According to the site, the pope will visit the capital Naypidaw to meet senior government officials before traveling to Yangon, the largest city in the country, noting that he will not go to the troubled Arakan state where most of the Rohingya live.
