Rohingya leaders questioned the goodwill of the Myanmar government after it confirmed the killing of 10 Rohingyas by the army and the local Buddhist population in the village of Inn Din last September and the discovery of a mass grave recently containing the bodies of the ten.
The director of the Rohingya Center for Human Rights in Switzerland, Mr. Aziz Abdulmajid, asked why the army announced the event at this time, pointing out that the army wants to appear fairly, especially after the report of MSF, which reported the deaths of more than 6000 people from Rohingya civilians in one month only.
“If we assume that they have returned, the government will put them in the camps and the world will forget this issue,” he said. “The government knows that it is the same as the situation in the Arakan region. There are no factors for the property of the Rohingya and therefore declare at the official level that they are ready to return refugees. “For his part, Assistant General Director of the Arakan Rohingya Union (ARU) Mr. Abdullah Maruf called on the Security Council and the United Nations to issue a draft resolution condemning the Government of Myanmar for ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Rohingya.
Mr. Maruf expressed surprise at the position of international institutions on this issue, despite the existence of evidence of mass murder, forced displacement and extrajudicial killings.
