The Global Rohingya Center (GRC) participated last Thursday in the Minorities Conference of the Human Rights Council in Geneva and reviewed the Rohingya issue, regarding their usurped rights by the Government of Myanmar.
On the preparatory day, the delegation from the center which was headed by the president of the GRC Mr. Mohammed Alam, and other delegation members were Dr. Mohammed Safar and Dr. Mahmoud Fadl.They met with the delegation of the Mauritanian and the Indonesian delegation, and introduced them to the Global Rohingya Center and Center for minority Studies in Sudanese.
At the conference, the delegation from the Center, headed by its chairman, Mohammed Alam, participated in the opening session. The delegation then delivered two speeches, one by Dr. Mohammed Safar on behalf of the Center, he spoke about the suffering of Rohingya in obtaining basic rights such as the right to live with dignity, the right to education, and pointed out that education is an advanced step in the absence of the right to have a life and citizenship.
Dr. Mahmoud Fadl Ahmed also spoke on behalf of the Sudanese volunteer organizations concerned with the Rohingya issues. He gave a brief presentation on the Rohingya Education Project and the establishment of grammar for the language and then adopted the educational qualification of Rohingya, especially immigrants.
On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation met with Mr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, the former Sudanese Foreign Minister, the Sudanese Ambassador to Geneva and the Permanent Representative of Sudan. The delegation also met with Dr. Tarek Kurdi, President of the Minorities Conference, and held a meeting to discuss the human rights work in Geneva. Some useful guidance to achieve.
The delegation also met on the sidelines with some of the participating figures from Canada, the representative of the Muslim community in Thailand, and the delegate of the Tamazight, and they were introduced to the Rohingya Center and its efforts.
The delegation coordinated with the relevant bodies to participate in the coverage of the Arab international news channels with the United Nations Information Office.
