The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), in collaboration with TRT World and the Arakan Humanitarian Association, organized a three-day journalism training program for 35 young Rohingya participants from refugee camps in Bangladesh. The initiative aimed to equip them with the skills necessary to tell their community’s stories in a professional manner.

The program, titled “Journalism for Beginners,” covered core topics such as news writing, interview techniques, media ethics, fact-checking, and the importance of balanced reporting.

The interactive sessions provided participants with hands-on experience in writing news articles, conducting interviews, and using digital tools for reporting. They also gained insights into how global media operates and how Rohingya voices can effectively reach international audiences.

Several participants expressed their excitement about this unique opportunity, which they described as their first experience receiving professional guidance in journalism. They emphasized that the training not only expanded their knowledge but also empowered them to represent their community in a stronger and more authentic way.

By the end of the program, participants felt motivated to continue pursuing journalism, while the training also fostered teamwork and networking among them, contributing to the development of a new generation of Rohingya storytellers capable of conveying their community’s suffering, resilience, and hopes to the wider world.

Previously, the Arakan Humanitarian Association, in collaboration with Arakan News Agency, organized a training course titled “News Writing and Editing in English,” which targeted Rohingya students and included a field visit to the TRT World headquarters.
