Indian police have arrested 18 Rohingya Muslims in the Khawai area of Tripura, India, when they were preparing to take a train to New Delhi after they had entered the country illegally from Bangladesh.
According to the Fox News network, theauthorities reported that the arrested persons included 11 men, four women and three children.
Police officer Krishando Shakravarti said they were looking for jobs and were heading for New Delhi, where other Rohingya people lived. Some 700,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled from Myanmar to Bangladesh to escape the army-led violence against the minority in their country.
It is noteworthy that nearly forty thousand Muslims (Rohingya) have resorted to different parts of India, and less than 15 thousand of these refugees registered with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
