Dozens of more Rohingya refugees arrived in Bangladesh on Monday evening to escape from Arakan province after being subjected to a constant starvation campaign since the Myanmar military operation ended.
At least 98 people, including women and children arrived, a Rohingya activist said in a video broadcast on social media.
A 45-year-old Rohingya man said that this whole new group came from Maungdaw and had fled after the Myanmar government’s policy of starvation intensified.
The man said that they had fled their villages during the military campaign to another village and had since been subjected to a narrowing of livelihoods, hunting and transportation, which eventually led them to flee.
The Myanmar government in Arakan is pursuing a policy of starvation with the aim of forcing Muslims to leave Arakan despite a return agreement signed by the Myanmar authorities with its Bangladesh counterpart.
