The Myanmar army admitted for the first time on Wednesday that there was a mass grave of the Rohingya in Arakan province, confirming the involvement of the Myanmar security forces in killing 10 members of the Muslim minority.

The office of the army commander, on his “Facebook”, that “the residents of the village of Inn Din, and members of the security forces have killed 10 Bengali,” using the name adopted in Myanmar for the Rohingya, recalling that it happened on 2 September.

Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Abulhasan Mahmood Ali, said earlier Wednesday that the issue of the influx of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar remains a thorn in the relations between the two countries. He expressed his hope for a new beginning with Myanmar through the return of the Rohingya, “By bringing back the Rohingya under the agreement signed on November 23, 2017, we hope for a new beginning with Myanmar,” Ali said in a speech at a seminar in Dhaka under the title “Changing Global Dynamics: Bangladesh’s Foreign Policy.”

On the achievement of the country’s sustainable development goals, Ali said Bangladesh will continue to expand its partnership on many fronts to achieve the goals of sustainable development. Bangladesh’s foreign minister said that his country will continue to maintain Is a leading United Nations-led peacekeeping operation by contributing military and police personnel, including women’s peacekeepers.
