Bangladesh’s Prime Minister calls for pressure on Myanmar to repatriate Rohingya refugees

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid has called on the international community to put pressure on Myanmar to repatriate hundreds of thousands of Muslim Rwandan minority fleeing violence to their country.

In a speech at the University of Visva Bharati in West Bengal state in India, ABC News reported Friday that Bangladesh had provided accommodation for fleeing Rohingya Muslims, but that they should return to Myanmar.

About 700,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled the Arakan state in Myanmar since August 25 because of the violence there and live in camps on the border with Bangladesh.
