A fire broke out on Thursday at the Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh without causing any casualties, according to local sources.
The incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. local time (06:30 GMT) at the Darbar Hall inside the Kutupalong camp and was caused by an electrical short circuit, the sources said.
The fire was quickly brought under control through the efforts of Rohingya community volunteers, in coordination with Bangladeshi security forces, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby facilities.
Sources confirmed that no injuries or significant material damage were reported, adding that the situation has since returned to normal.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks posed by unsafe electrical wiring in the camps and the importance of safety measures and rapid emergency response.
