Media reported on Tuesday (November 15, 2016) that the Myanmar army arrested 31 people, following a bloody clashes over the weekend in the state of Arakan, the stronghold of the minority Rohingya Muslim.

They were at least 25 people have died in the latest wave of clashes broke out in the state since the army surrounded villages beginning of month.

The media said that the men who were arrested were armed with machetes, sticks and batons.

The government has accused the Muslim groups with links to terrorists abroad of being behind the violence.

It has been preventing journalists access to the conflict zone, making it difficult process of confirming the reports, but human rights groups have accused more than once the army of violating human rights in the Rohingya villages.

The organization Human Rights Watch has published photographs via satellite on 13th showed the first phase of damaged to be at least 430 houses in Muslim villages because of the fire, the government has demanded the formation of a committee under the support of the former United Nations secretary to investigate this destruction.

It is noteworthy that Arakan State is one of the poorest states in Myanmar, witnessing violence between Buddhists and Muslims since 2012, claimed the lives of hundreds and displaced more than 100 thousand Rohingya citizens.
