Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid said that Kuwait’s “foreign affairs” have taken action against crimes committed by the Myanmar army against Muslims in Arakan province and facilitated the fundraising process to help them.

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, Al-Khalid said in reply to a question by MP Mohammed Hayef that “the ministry has asked the affairs to provide them with the amounts paid by the charity organizations to the Rohingya refugees, in order to register the amounts with the competent international organizations as a Kuwaiti relief effort for Rohingya refugees.” He explained that the foreign ministry condemned the statement made by the Deputy Foreign Minister on 5th September 2017 to the media about Kuwait’s concern about the humanitarian situation of the Rohingya Muslims, stressing that the Kuwaiti position comes within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which denounces and condemns the acts and misdeeds and called for dialogue and respect for the rights of minorities, as well as “enabling them to receive aid and taking into consideration this difficult humanitarian aspect.” and stated that the State of Kuwait always seeks to alleviate the scourge of conflicts and wars against Muslims in Myanmar, by providing the necessary assistance and support, in the belief that it is important to alleviate the human suffering of  vulnerable peoples.
