Immigration and Population Department head Aung Min said that in Arakan state immigration officials do not know where the Rohingya refugees will be resettled after their return from Bangladesh and when that will take place.
“The issue will be dealt with by the government leaders and we have nothing to do with it,” Min said in an interview with the Irrawaddy.
Speaking about the repatriation process, Min said that the reception will be at the Tungbiolito and Nga Khoya centers with 150 people per day in each center. The Immigration and Population Department, the Department of Public Affairs, the Police and Health Department will participate in the process.
He stressed that the operation will be in accordance with the 1993 agreement as announced by the government earlier, and that the process will witness selection procedures according to the papers in the possession of the refugee.
