Another Rohingya shot by Burmese troops in Arakan

Myanmar security forces have committed serious rights abuses against Muslims in violence-hit western Rakhine state during six weeks of emergency rule, Amnesty International said. Communal violence between ethnic Buddhist Rakhine and local Muslims, including the Rohingya, has left at least 80 people dead and forced tens of thousands out of their homes.

A Rohingya man was wounded in the thigh by gunshot by Burmese troops during an arbitrary campaign waged for several days against Rohingyas in Forma village Northern Maungdaw city as a reporter ANA said, adding that the forces imposed security cordon and a curfew on the village, women and children are prevented from leaving their homes, also manipulating by enabling men and young people to escape then shooting them.
Reporter further added that the forces confiscate private property of the people and then put pressure on women to reveal hiding places of the men. He explained that the man who was shot on thigh is in critical condition may cost him his life if he did not get medical assistance urgently.

It is noteworthy that the Burmese government considers the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan outsiders foreigners as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh on this basis they don’t have any basic human rights inside Burma although they are settlers to the region for hundreds of years.
