Rohingyas in Maungdaw city of Arakan state of Myanmar are facing arbitrariness of the police while dealing with them and imposed fines on trumped-up charges, the ANA correspondent reported.

One of the local on condition of anonymity said: “if one of us try to pass in front of the police headquarters, we are exposed to immobilization, inspection and fabrication of charges against us in order to financially blackmail us”, and added: “A few days ago police forced me to pay 350 thousand Myanmar Kyat in exchange for my release, and I know another man was forced to pay 400 thousand Kyat under the threat of arrest and imprisonment. “
It is noteworthy that local observers believe that the conditions and arbitrary practices against Rohingya remained same since the violence contrived against them in 2012, and it continues even now, despite the great political changes taking place in Myanmar recently.
