The state of Myanmar is one of three countries to prevent Muslims from Taraweeh in Ramadan, according to a report published by the Egyptian newspaper Tahrir.
Rohingya Muslims in Arakan province are prevented from performing Taraweeh prayers during the month of Ramadan since 2012 under the Emergency Law Persecution and crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
According to the newspaper, Iran also banned the Taraweeh prayers or any religious lectures during the month of Ramadan in the occupied Arab Ahwaz, and Baluchestan Sunni province.
Sheikh Nassar Khazal, the grandson of Ahwazi’s last ruler, said that Iran had already applied for the prohibition of Taraweeh prayers for years, and that Iran was blocking the Eid prayer itself and was arresting those trying to pray from Ahwazis in the squares. Khazal stressed in a special statement to “Liberation” that Iran aims behind these practices to slow the Ahwazi issue, even though it is an issue of liberation for the Arab people from the Persian colonization.
In Tajikistan, the President of the country, Imam Ali Rakhmanov, approved a bill prohibiting young people under the age of 18 from entering the mosques to justify the spread of “Islamic fundamentalism” before Ramadan, as a result of the continuation of the secular regime in Tajikistan to fight all forms of religiosity for the Muslim people there.
The law, enacted last year, forbids all residents under the age of 18, except those attending religious schools, from worshiping in mosques, churches or other religious institutions. Tajikistan has 7.5 million people, 98% of whom are Muslims.
